B Civil Engineering Limited was established in 1998, operating as a civil
engineering contractor on a range of schemes throughout the North East of
England
G & B
Civil Engineering Limited has a tradition of undertaking civil engineering
works including reclamation works, earthworks, roadworks, drainage,
environmental protection work and reinforced concrete structures. More
recently, the company has expanded into the sports and leisure industry having
completed a number of MUGA’s and synthetic turf pitches.
Over two
hundred contracts have been successfully completed and a high percentage of
repeat business and partnering work underlines client satisfaction. The
portfolio of clients includes Alcan Primary Metal Europe, Newcastle
International Airport Limited, Colas North Ltd, Northumberland County Council,
Speymill Contracts Ltd, North Tyneside Council, Newcastle City Council,
Groundwork Trust, The National Trust, UK Coal Ltd, Volker Stevin Ltd and Nexus,
the Tyne & Wear Metro Operator.
Over the
years, we have developed the Company and its success on its core disciplines of:

Civil Engineering and Infrastructure – including site clearance, ground stabilisation,
drainage system installation, utilities diversion and provision, flexible and
rigid pavement systems, reinforced concrete slabs, structures and foundations,
street lighting and signage systems.

Reclamation and Remediation – including
site clearance, demolition of structures, excavation, filling and compaction,
soil reinforcement and stabilisation, crushing, screening and reprocessing,
encapsulation of hazardous materials and lining works.
·
River and Coastal Protection Works – including gabion anti-erosion works, rock armour,
rip-rap and stone revetment works, river diversionary works and bank stabilisation
works using geo-membranes and soil nailing techniques.
·
Sports and Leisure Facility Construction – including the construction of MUGA’s, synthetic turf
pitches and other synthetic surfaces, ground remodelling and preparation of
both sand based and soil based pitch systems for sports and leisure facilities,
drainage systems, floodlighting systems, fencing systems, playground equipment
and all associated works to enhance the scheme.

Chris Barber B.Sc(Hons)
C.Eng MICE – Managing Director
Chris
and a former business partner formed G & B Civil Engineering Limited
in 1998. For ten years Chris built up the company before taking it to
the next phase in 2008 when he secured full control of the company after
the retirement of his business partner.
Prior
to this, Chris worked as a Site Agent for Harbour & General (Volker
Stevin) for 11 years before joining Seymour Civil Engineering as Contracts
Director for another 11 years.

Dave Norcott – Director
Dave
joined G & B Civil Engineering Limited in 2006 and has progressively
widened the company’s client base.
Prior
to this, Dave worked for Tarmac Construction and Taylor Woodrow as a
Site Manager before moving onto Hewden (Contracts) – 12 years as Contracts
Manager and Hellens Contracts Ltd – 15 years as a Contracts Director

Jason Hind – Contracts
Manager
Jason
joined G & B Civil Engineering in 2007, bringing a new dimension
to the company with his experience in the construction of sports facilities
as well as his experience in Civil Engineering and Building Construction.
Prior
to this, Jason worked as a Site Engineer for John Laing Construction,
Laing Management Contracting, Rush & Tompkins, Lumsden & Carroll
before moving onto Hellens Contracts Ltd – 10 years working initially
as a Site Engineer progressing up to Contracts Manager.

Jackie Fisher – Accounts
Jackie
is responsible for all matters arising in the accounts department –
from invoicing, payment of employees and suppliers to opening of new
accounts with suppliers.

Susan Ruddick – Administration
Clerk
Susan
is responsible for ensuring the smooth day to day operation of the office
– including the setting up of tender / contract files and general administration
duties.

The Company continues to form
strong and constructive long term relationships with clients, facilitating
a better understanding of their needs and enabling a more efficient service
to be provided. Clients now include a wide range of local authorities as well
as a growing number of private clients.
